<p><strong>ACCOMMODATION</strong><br /> The eclectic Affi Lande Boetiek Guest Farm is a great place to stay<br />  <br /> <strong>GRAEME LUND</strong><br /><strong> DECEMBER 5, 2019</strong><br /> <br /> <em>Affi Lande Boetiek Guest Farm</em>, located just outside Fouriesburg on the R26, is great as an overnight stop or as a base for exploring the beautiful Eastern Free State.</p> <p>The R26 is a busy route that links many of the major cities in South Africa to one another as well as to Lesotho.  Affi Lande Boetiek Guest Farm could not be more conveniently located.</p> <p>The Eastern Free State is one of the most attractive areas in the country.  There is plenty to do in the area and it is close enough to visit as a weekend getaway from Johannesburg, Durban, and Bloemfontein.</p> <p>I can highly recommend <em>Affi Lande Boetiek Guest Farm</em> as the place to stay while enjoying this part of the country.</p> <p>Leon and Adri Swart, the owners of the guest farm, have created something special.</p> <p>Adri says, “We have put a lot of love into making Affi Lande and I believe that our guests can see that.  We work hard to make each guest feel personally welcome and to be as hospitable as possible.”</p> <p>My overnight stay was just as Adri described.  She welcomed my daughters and I, greeted us by name and invited us to her lounge where we were checked in and offered advice and suggestions on what to do in the area.</p> <p>Adri showed us to our chalet, took us on a tour of the rooms and facilities and let us know that she was just a call away for any further assistance.</p> <p><strong>Accommodation at Affi Lande Boetiek Guest Farm</strong></p> <p>Our cottage was an eclectic mix of old furnishings with new fabric, modern bathrooms and big beautiful beds with crisp white linen, plenty of pillows and thick, warm blankets.</p> <p>The theme of our cottage was that of an Eastern Free State farmhouse.  The chalet is constructed from the attractive bare sandstone that is so common.  There is also a tin roof and a cozy lounge with fireplace come braai.</p> <p>The beds were huge with chocolates and fresh rosebuds on the pillow. We all slept like the dead and awoke with the pitter-patter of rain on the tin roof.</p> <p>We took a walk around the farm and discovered that there are seven chalets each with their own theme.  I asked Adri if we could take a look at those that were open and unoccupied. </p> <p>The Moroccan chalet is really beautiful with rich colors and dark furnishings typical of that country.  The Sea Cottage has a really lovely loft room and a thatched roof that brought back memories of holidays in the Southern Cape.</p> <p>The bathrooms that I saw had modern amenities but with an arty twist.  Modern mixers over an old but newly enameled bath are a typical example.</p> <p>Adri really has an eye for detail and each chalet is a wonderful character that makes one feel like they are on holiday.</p> <p><strong>Facilities and things to do</strong></p> <p>Each chalet has a fully equipped kitchen with an oven, stove, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle and all the pots, pans, and utensils needed to prepare a meal. </p> <p>Tea, coffee, fresh milk, sugar, and rusks are also provided.  Fouriesburg is just a few minutes away and Adri provides a list of restaurants in the town.</p> <p>The chalets also have a braai area that is stocked with wood, fans for summer and electric blankets for winter.</p> <p>This is a working farm with fruit trees and livestock and my city-dwelling kids spent hours exploring.  Early the next morning they were invited to help feed the lambs, an experience that they couldn’t stop discussing.</p> <p>Boma and bonfire area ………</p> <p>Adri says that one of the most popular attractions is the bonfire at the boma.</p> <p>Wedding venue</p> <p><em>Affi Lande Boetiek Guest Farm</em> also has a wedding venue with a rustic, farm-style ambiance that can seat 80 guests.</p> <p>Adri says they are a one-stop venue that provides catering, furnishings, decor, and flowers.</p> <p>One of the major attractions of this venue is the open-air chapel situated high on the hillside with a magnificent few across the highlands and the bonfire at the boma.</p> <p><strong>Top reasons for staying at Affi Lande Boetiek Guest Farm</strong></p> <p>Great hospitality<br /> Very comfortable and homely chalets<br /> Plenty to do on the farm and in the area<br /> Easy to access<br /> My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay thanks to Adri and Leon’s hospitality, the comfort of our chalet and the beautiful scenery. </p> <p>For more information or to make a reservation call, <strong>084 838 4110</strong> or email <strong>info@affilande.co.za </strong>  Click here to find them on Google Maps.  Click here to make an online booking.</p> <p> </p>
